Renew an institutional membership

Renew the association of your institutional membership to continue enjoying the benefits it provides.

Depending on the verifcation method, institutional membership associations have different expiration periods:
  • Email: 90 days
  • Institutional login: 90 days
  • IP address: 30 days

You will receive an email notification when an institutional membership is about to expire, but you can also trigger the renewal process manually from your profile page at any time.

Institutional memberships are deleted automatically a few days after their expiration. If your association was deleted because you didn’t renew on time, you can always add it back by starting a new verification process. Click here to learn how.

Email

  1. Under the Institutional Memberships area of your dashboard, click My institutions.
  2. From the list, find the institutional membership you want to renew.
  3. Click Renew.
  4. Enter your email and click Continue.
    A verification code is sent to your email.
  5. Enter the verification code and click Continue.
The association of your institutional membership with your CONNECT account is renewed for another 90 days.

Institutional login

  1. Under the Institutional Memberships area of your dashboard, click My institutions.
  2. From the list, find the institutional membership you want to renew.
  3. Click Renew.
    The institution's website displays.
  4. Log in to your account for the website of the institution.
After logging in, you are redirected to CONNECT and the association of your institutional membership is renewed for another 90 days.

IP address

Associations established using your IP address are automatically renewed when you access your CONNECT account or log in to the sites you have joined through the institution's network.

Note: Make sure that the Automatic creation and renewal of institutional memberships option is enabled under Account & Privacy > Permissions.
